From planting and irrigating fields to harvesting, packing, and transporting fruit, producing a watermelon takes the dedication of thousands of people working together throughout the growing season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watermelons are grown in communities across California, with several counties standing out for their production. According to the 2022 California County Agricultural Commissioners\u2019 Report and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nass.usda.gov\/Publications\/AgCensus\/2022\/Full_Report\/Census_by_State\/California\/index.php\">2022 Census of Agriculture<\/a>, leading California watermelon-producing counties based on acres harvested and gross production value include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>San Joaquin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kern<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Yolo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Colusa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sutter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fresno<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Riverside<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>San Bernardino<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These regions help supply consumers with fresh, California-grown watermelons during the peak of summer, showcasing the diversity and strength of the state\u2019s agricultural landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether enjoyed at a family barbecue, sliced at a picnic, blended into a refreshing drink, or simply eaten fresh, watermelon is a summertime favorite.
