Secretary Ross joins Lt. Governor Kounalakis for meeting with governor of Punjab, Pakistan

Governor Eleni Kounalakis (both at center) yesterday for a meeting with Punjab Governor Mohammed Sarwar (fourth from left) and a delegation of government officials, as well as businesses from the U.S. Pakistani community. Among the topics of discussion was Climate Smart Agriculture. Within Punjab the agricultural sector is critically important, generating approximately 22 percent of the province’s GDP and employing almost 40 percent of the population. The State of California and Punjab look forward to closer collaboration in agriculture and other economic sectors.
