{"id":14624,"date":"2018-02-08T09:30:22","date_gmt":"2018-02-08T16:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/plantingseedsblog.cdfa.ca.gov\/wordpress\/?p=14624"},"modified":"2018-02-08T09:30:22","modified_gmt":"2018-02-08T16:30:22","slug":"cdfa-among-participants-at-world-ag-expo-next-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/plantingseedsblog.cdfa.ca.gov\/wordpress\/index.php\/2018\/02\/08\/cdfa-among-participants-at-world-ag-expo-next-week\/","title":{"rendered":"CDFA among participants at World Ag Expo next week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-14629\" src=\"http:\/\/plantingseedsblog.cdfa.ca.gov\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Expo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/plantingseedsblog.cdfa.ca.gov\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Expo.jpg 225w, https:\/\/plantingseedsblog.cdfa.ca.gov\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Expo-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 2018 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldagexpo.com\/\">World Ag Expo<\/a> is scheduled for next week in Tulare (Feb 13-15), and several divisions at CDFA will be participating.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, February 14, deputy secretary Jenny Lester Moffitt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldagexpo.com\/seminar-schedule-750\">will join a panel<\/a>\u00a0to discuss the 2018 federal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdfa.ca.gov\/farm_bill\/\">Farm Bill<\/a> alongside participants from the USDA, the University of California Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the California Farm Bureau Federation.<\/p>\n<p>The next day, Feb 15, a CDFA veternarian, Dr. Rosie Busch,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldagexpo.com\/seminar-schedule-750\">will lead a presentation<\/a> on microbial use in livestock in the wake of a new law that went into effect on January 1.\u00a0\u00a0The law requires that all antibiotics for use in livestock must be under veterinary direction. The law also requires a veterinarian\u2019s prescription for the sale of all antibiotics, prohibits the use of antibiotics for growth promotion, and limits the circumstances in which antibiotics can be used for disease prevention.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdfa.ca.gov\/citruscommittee\/\">California Citrus Pest and Disease Prevention Committee<\/a> will staff a booth at the Ag Expo to provide information about the Asian citrus psyllid, huanglongbing and other issues important to the citrus industry. CDFA collaborates with citrus growers on the committee.<\/p>\n<p>CDFA&#8217;s Inspection Services division will staff another booth to provide information about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdfa.ca.gov\/egov\/farmersmarket\/\">certified farmers&#8217; markets<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdfa.ca.gov\/is\/i_&amp;_c\/organic.html\">State Organic Program<\/a>, and the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdfa.ca.gov\/egov\/Press_Releases\/Press_Release.asp?PRnum=18-011\"> Food Safety and Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wag18.mapyourshow.com\/7_0\/search.cfm\">Visit this page<\/a> for more information about CDFA&#8217;s booths.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the 51st annual World Ag Expo. Last year&#8217;s Expo\u00a0hosted 105,780 attendees representing 43 states and 71 countries.
