It reports that California\u2019s farms and ranches received more than $50 billion in cash receipts for their output. This represents an increase of almost 6 percent compared to 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>California\u2019s agricultural abundance includes more than 400 commodities. Over a third of the country\u2019s vegetables and two-thirds of the country\u2019s fruits and nuts are grown in California. California is the leading US state for cash farm receipts, accounting for over 13 percent of the nation\u2019s total agricultural value. The top producing commodities for 2017 include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Dairy Products, Milk \u2014 $6.56 billion<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Grapes\u2014 $5.79 billion<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Almonds\u2014 $5.60 billion<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Strawberries\u2014 $3.10 billion<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Cattle and Calves \u2014 $2.53 billion<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Lettuce\u2014 $2.41 billion<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Walnuts\u2014 $1.59 billion<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Tomatoes\u2014 $1.05 billion<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Pistachios\u2014 $1.01 billion<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Broilers\u2014 $939 million<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdfa.ca.gov\/Statistics\/PDFs\/2017-18AgExports.pdf\">California agricultural exports<\/a>&nbsp;totaled $20.56 billion for 2017. Top commodities for export in 2017 included almonds, dairy and dairy products, pistachios, wine and walnuts.
