The Spotted Lanternfly<\/a>, an invasive species originating in China, has been detected in 11 eastern states in recent years, and California is working diligently to keep it away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of that effort, personnel at CDFA’s Border Inspection Station at Truckee recently detected lanternfly egg masses on a trailer carrying firewood from New Jersey — one of the infested states. The firewood was confiscated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Spotted Lanternfly threatens a number of trees–including almond, apple, cherry, walnut and pine–as well as grapevines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CDFA has 16 Border Inspection Stations <\/a>throughout California for the detection and exclusion of invasive species. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
