The order includes wildlife and habitat protections, ensuring that any diversions would not harm water quality or habitat or take away from environmental needs.<br>\u00a0<br><strong>WHAT GOV. NEWSOM SAID: <\/strong>\u201cCalifornia is seeing extreme rain and snow, so we\u2019re making it simple to redirect water to recharge groundwater basins. So far this winter it has authorized <strong>186,153 acre-feet for recharge<\/strong> under those processes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DWR has awarded $68 million to 42 groundwater recharge projects that provide nearly <strong>117,000 acre-feet of potential recharge <\/strong>capacity. Ongoing applications include 52 groundwater recharge projects worth $211 million.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Since 2020, the State Water Board has provided $1 billion for 13 projects to bring<strong> 88,000 acre-feet per year <\/strong>to the state\u2019s water supplies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In August, the Administration released \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmclist.us7.list-manage.com%2Ftrack%2Fclick%3Fu%3Dafffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55%26id%3Dc07b2f7d0b%26e%3De5818ec3c0&amp;data=05%7C01%7Csteve.lyle%40cdfa.ca.gov%7Ca0a40e10cfc6484755c008db21b9f9a0%7Cafdfd251a22248978cbaae68cabfffbc%7C0%7C0%7C638140855005853503%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=D8teYPQ5UPlThJ6e0nvKVP0DM0pRl50aUk66pmjooIY%3D&amp;reserved=0\">California\u2019s Water Supply Strategy: Adapting to a Hotter, Drier Future<\/a>\u201d calling for investing in new sources of water supply, accelerating projects and modernizing how the state manages water through new technology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leveraging the more than $8.6 billion committed by Governor Newsom and the Legislature in the last two budget cycles to build water resilience, the <a href=\"https:\/\/gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmclist.us7.list-manage.com%2Ftrack%2Fclick%3Fu%3Dafffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55%26id%3D1e6751a8d2%26e%3De5818ec3c0&amp;data=05%7C01%7Csteve.lyle%40cdfa.ca.gov%7Ca0a40e10cfc6484755c008db21b9f9a0%7Cafdfd251a22248978cbaae68cabfffbc%7C0%7C0%7C638140855005853503%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=1QcFsH8QX%2Bc%2FSf7uDS%2Bowx9mrraTIqbROihDKqmgTIQ%3D&amp;reserved=0\">state is continuing to take aggressive action<\/a> to prepare for the impacts of climate-driven extremes in weather on the state\u2019s water supplies.
