Here, Secretary Ross was able to recognize Japan\u2019s strong trade partnership and collaboration on market access  for agricultural products, as well as focusing on organic certification. As part of the Summit, CDFA hosted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdfa.ca.gov\/oefi\/\">Climate Smart Agriculture <\/a>and Working Lands panel discussion with speakers from Japan\u2019s National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO), the Agricultural Department of Yamanashi Prefecture, California representatives from the University of California&#8217;s Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the California Rice Commission.&nbsp; The panel underscored research, on-farm practices and technical assistance as key approaches in helping farmers and ranchers address climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/plantingseedsblog.cdfa.ca.gov\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Image-3.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/plantingseedsblog.cdfa.ca.gov\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Image-3-1024x675.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25744\" width=\"407\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/plantingseedsblog.cdfa.ca.gov\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Image-3-1024x675.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/plantingseedsblog.cdfa.ca.gov\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Image-3-300x198.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/plantingseedsblog.cdfa.ca.gov\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Image-3.jpeg 1234w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 407px) 100vw, 407px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The schedule this week has also included visits to key agricultural customers, featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/californiagrown.org\/\">California Grown <\/a>supermarket promotions and a tour of the Toyosu Central Wholesale Market for fresh fruits and vegetables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secretary Ross is in Japan as part of a California Trade Mission led by Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis and Dee Dee Myers, director of the Governor\u2019s Office of Business and Economic Development.
