On Monday, April 6, the Almond Board of California hosted a morning in the orchard at Westwind Farms to kick off Healthy Soils Week. Attendees learned from growers and experts about how California almond farmers are using regenerative practices to build soil health and support long-term sustainability.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Earlier this week, the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s Office of Agricultural Resilience and Sustainability<\/a> kicked off California\u2019s Healthy Soils Week<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We started the week with a farm tour alongside the Almond Board of California<\/a>, where we heard directly about the latest research, industry leadership, and farmer experience shaping soil health on almond farms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also appreciated our partners at Sustainable Conservation<\/a> for featuring OARS Director Dr. Tawny Mata<\/a> in a recent blog, where she shares insights on strengthening groundwater resilience, advancing healthy soil practices, and bridging the gap between research and real-world agricultural management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ll wrap up the week with a tour alongside our legislative partners, but the message remains clear: healthy soils matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
