Social media meets farming in Know a California Farmer seminar series

The California Agricultural Communications Coalition, made up of more than 200 commodity organizations across California, is committed to providing learning opportunities about social media  for farmers and ranchers.

The coalition founded a web site, http://www.knowacaliforniafarmer.com, that serves as a platform for these efforts, and also offers training seminars on reaching consumers through sites like Facebook and Twitter, utilizing tools such as blogs, videos and photographs.

Consumers are becoming more and more interested in the origins of their food. This program is designed to help producers be responsive to that.

Those interested in these sessions may RSVP to Sharlene Garcia, sharlene.garcia@adfarmonline.com. Space is limited to 25 attendees per session. Upcoming dates and locations are listed below:

Santa Rosa – February 28, Courtyard by Marriott

One Response to Social media meets farming in Know a California Farmer seminar series

  1. Would be great if this important outreach initiative could include a component on honey bees and ag pollination services and their vital importance to California agriculture and consumers. Our focus is on working with ag organizations and public land managers to increase access to safe forage and nutrition for bees in California on both private and public lands. PFSP is managing a Bee Friendly Farming initiative that is an important means of raising consumer recognition and support for helping bees by (1) recognizing those who provide bee habitat, and/or (2) supporting bees by purchasing farm products and local honey bearing the “Bee Friendly Farmer” logo. http://www.pfspbees.org/bff.htm
