Video – Climate Smart Ag in action at Giacomazzi Farms

The California Department of Food and Agriculture’s (CDFA) investments in irrigation technology and other advancements through its State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program (SWEEP) are explored in this video about Giacomazzi Farms.

Through the SWEEP program, CDFA’s Office of Environmental Farming and Innovation provides financial assistance in the form of grants to implement irrigation systems that reduce greenhouse gases and save water on California farms.

    Nice explanation of how SWEEP grants are a) saving water; b ) helping farmers be more comfortable with the risk often inherent in trying something new– and, in this case, good for natural resources. Koudos.

    I am very impressed with the Giacomazzie farm’s commitment to the sustainability of the agro/ecosystem in the valley. I am amazed at how well the almonds thrived and I am very proud of Dino and his family’s use of the newest technologies, he certainly takes after his father who was always interested in the newest farming innovations. Dino I want you to know that I am very pleased to know how well one of my favorite Kindergartners turned out.
